Let’s Celebrate!

Psalm 145

Verse 7 They celebrate Your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of Your righteousness.

We have talked the last few days about how our children and grandchildren will know how to worship the Lord because of our examples and today we continue seeing the results in their lives.

In this verse we see the descendants of Godly people celebrating God’s abundant goodness. There are a few important things for us to see in that first phrase. First we must think about the abundance of His goodness. When was the last time that we thought about just how abundant God’s goodness is? We would do well to meditate on the various ways He shows His goodness, from the seemingly small things like seeing a pretty bird at the feeder to the large examples like our lives being saved in a tragic accident.

Looking at the various ways we have been gifted with His goodness, we can see nothing but abundance from Him. Big things and small things add up and when we praise Him for the abundance of His goodness, we can’t help but celebrate. We enjoy the things that He brings our way and we learn to know Him more through His goodness.

Seeing our children and grandchildren celebrating the abundant goodness of the Lord should bring us joy too. Knowing that those following in our footsteps are finding the Lord in a personal way is yet one more way that He shows His goodness to us. As we keep our promise to raise our families in the fear and admonition of the Lord, He will keep His promises to grow them in His ways and to make Himself known to them.

Knowing the Lord will bring them to sing joyfully of His righteousness just as it has us. One of the most joyful moments is when generations can praise His name together. This is one reason that a family going to church together is so important and wonderful. And when a church family continues to grow generation after generation there can be great joy for all as we see His marvelous goodness shine more and more brightly. This is the abundance of the His goodness shining in all His glory. Let us sing for joy!

Making It Personal

How intentional are you about helping the younger generation see the abundance of God’s goodness? What can they see in your life that will help them grow to know Him more? What does His goodness inspire you to sing?

Making It Personal Kids

What have you learned from your parents or grandparents that helps you know Jesus more? What are some of the things that show Jesus’ goodness? Does knowing Jesus’ goodness make you want to sing?

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for all the amazing things that You do. Your goodness is unmatched. Help us look for the many things that You do for us and help us give You all the glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
