Ephesians 2:13-18
Verse 14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
One of the ways that we can enjoy this gift of peace is the peace of mind knowing that there is assurance of salvation. We don’t have to fret if we are doing enough to make it to heaven, because we could never do enough. While that may sound like the opposite of peace, we can have peace because we know He lived the perfect life, died and rose again so we don’t have to.
Knowing that He is our peace because He has done the work we can’t do ourselves, how can we not share the news of that gift with others? When we find something that we really enjoy, we tell everyone about it. We should be doing that about the peace of Christ, letting others know that the peace we have in Him is available to them as well.
There is no gift like the gift of peace in salvation and when we can share that with others, we are obeying Christ who told us to go and make disciples. He didn’t say “some go share” as if He was asking for volunteers to the mission field. His plan wasn’t to leave the spreading of the good news to a few people, He was telling all His followers that they had the responsibility of spreading the truth of who He is.
We live in a world of turmoil. This turmoil is because of sin that is running rampant. As we already know, sin and peace can’t coexist. The world can’t know the peace of Christ because they don’t know Him. One of the best ways for them to know the peace of Christ is through them seeing it in our lives. If we aren’t living in the peace of Christ we can’t share it with others.
We need to remember that we are to be witnesses to the goodness of the Lord and so our lives should be reflecting Him. As we live into His peace, others will start to recognize we have a calmness that is rare in the world. If we hold to that peaceful demeanor through the ups and downs in life, we will find that the people around us will have no choice but to know God gives a peace that nothing else can produce.
Making It Personal
Who have you noticed that displays the peace of Christ? Has anyone ever commented about you having a certain peace? How willing are you to share about the peace you have in your salvation?
Making It Personal Kids
Who do you know that has a peace you know is because they love Jesus? Have you ever tried to tell someone else about the peace you know because Jesus died for your sins? Who needs to hear about how knowing Jesus brings peace?
Closing Prayer
Father, there is no peace as comforting as the assurance of our salvation. Thank You for calling us to be Your children, help us live out Your peace so others are drawn to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
