Unique You, Unique Service

Copyright by Freedom in Christ, used with permission.

Whilst becoming more like Jesus is God’s main life-goal for us, it is not an end in itself. Jesus Himself said: “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work” (John 4:34). So as we become more like Jesus, we should expect this same desire to serve God our Father to captivate us.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10

Wherever you are at in your life right now, whether that be in terms of geography or life stage or occupation or friendships, it is no accident. God has sovereignly placed you there. Your family and your neighbourhood and your workplace are your unique mission fields, and no-one can be a better “you” than you can be! Your God-given calling in all of these is to be an ambassador for Christ by becoming like Him and serving those people on His behalf.

So wherever and whomever you find yourself serving, do it to the best of your ability. God doesn’t look at how much we do, but instead looks at our heart – are we committed to using our God given talents and time and treasure to serve others as well as we can? This is the most fulfilling and satisfying way to live.

Who are the specific people God has called you to love and serve? Pray for them.
