Psalm 100:4-5
Verse 5b …His faithfulness continues through all generations.
The last – though definitely not the least, nor last that could be listed – in our list of things to be thankful for about God, is faithfulness. This faithfulness extends from His perfect love. He is faithful in everything. His faithfulness won’t change because of our circumstances because He has made the choice to be faithful.
His faithfulness isn’t only directed to His faithful followers because He is faithful in His creation. His amazing faithfulness is revealed in the change of the seasons and rotating of days. We don’t have to wonder what the next season of weather will be, even though it isn’t exactly the same every year. Nor do we have to wonder if the sun will rise the next day. He has faithfully brought the world through many generations.
He faithfully kept His word throughout the millennia as every prophecy He gave about Christ proved true. When He told Abraham that He would give him a son to build a nation, He did. It wasn’t the way and time that Abraham thought, but He kept His word. When God told Samuel to anoint young David as king over the Lord’s nation, David had no reason to doubt that God would make it happen. David didn’t know when, but he knew he could trust God to keep His word.
He has faithfully cared and provided for His people even when it seemed improbable. He is faithful to care for us even when we don’t know we need it. Just as He made sure the Israelites had what they needed in the wilderness, He makes sure we have what we need when we need it. He faithfully makes sure we don’t go hungry, homeless or lack clothing.
This week we have looked at a mere 7 things to thank God for, but there are many more reasons to be thankful for Him. Though this brief time of thanking Him is over, there is no reason to stop looking for ways His hand is working to reveal His amazing character. It would do us well to find at least one reason to thank Him every day and when we start looking, we will likely find more than one. We may find it encouraging to keep a journal of all the things we find to thank Him about. Or maybe even find a way to encourage each other by having times of sharing what He is doing in our lives. No matter how we do it, let’s never stop thanking Him.

Closing Prayer
Father, we thank You for who You are. If we were to thank You for everything You do, we would never be able to stop talking. You are so amazing in so many ways. Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.
