Psalm 28:6-8
Verse 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.
This verse reveals two things we can be thankful for, that He is our strength and our shield. Since we are less likely to forget to praise Him for being our protector, we will talk about our need to acknowledge Him as our strength. This is talking about more than our physical strength. God is our strength emotionally and spiritually. He is the one who helps us hold it all together when we feel like life is falling apart. To tap into His strength we need to lean into Him and His knowledge. When we lean on our own strength we will fail. But as the children’s song says, we “are weak but He is strong.”
Making It Personal for All Ages
When have you been thankful for His strength?
Where in your life are you getting tired because you have been using your own strength?
How can you help others know His strength?
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for being the strength we need. Help us learn to lean on You instead of trying to do it all on our own. In Jesus’ name, amen.
