So Much to Tell
Verse 25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
Today we reach the end of our series on the words of Jesus from the cross and beyond. Let’s take a little time to recap.
First we talked about the lonely road that Jesus was on as He walked through the moments towards crucifixion. We focused on the fact that Christ’s sacrifice placed Him in our place of separation from God due to our sin. He faced that forsaking from God so that we don’t have to.
Next we talked about how we can trust God with ourselves because He is forever faithful. He will never leave us or forsake us. Everything that Jesus went through was to open the way for us to have full access to God all the time, for all of eternity.
After that we talked about Jesus’ words, “It is finished!” We discussed how He had conquered the wrath of sin and had ended the enemy’s plan to destroy God’s people. In dying on the cross Jesus had sealed the victory over sin’s control on mankind and had brought the long prophesied redemption. God had said that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent’s head and Jesus did just that.
That brought us past the cross to Christ’s resurrection and victory over death. This victory over death enables us to conquer our fear of death because we know, for His followers, death isn’t the end. Though the enemy makes us think we need to work for our salvation we can take comfort in the knowledge that Jesus did all that was needed and we need to believe and obey.
Lastly we learned about what it truly means to love Jesus. He has called all of us to share Him with those we come into contact with. When we love Him in the “all in” kind of way He can use us mightily for the kingdom of God and that will bring God the glory He deserves. Christ has paid the price and is calling us to follow Him into a life of sacrifice. If we truly love Him we will follow wherever He leads.
